Custom-Shaped Carbon Xerogel Materials by 3D Printing

Sol–gel-based carbon xerogels possess very promising properties for pollution abatement, using processes that associate adsorption and on-site electrochemical oxidation. However, combining a high exterior surface area (for efficient diffusion) monolithic shape (necessary processes) poses challenges. In this work, the of was contrived by use 3D-printed molds. Several parameters were optimized: choice mold design, plastic, 3D printer parameters, solvent, process dissolving plastic. A design fine sticks plates made ABS printed; sol–gel xerogel monolith synthesized in it, removed combination acetone pyrolysis. Dissolving plastic could be carried out placing material on metallic net leaving dissolved to settle. The resulting exhibits good strength, leading potential uses aforementioned process. research shows printing is an method parameter optimization pre-industrialization research, thanks its flexibility, low cost, ease use.
